Above each list there is a selector to decide which phonebook / group of contacts load for synching. The empty entry on the selector (when available) means "load all phonebooks"

  • single or multiple selections of contacts
  • single or multiple selections of numbers/emails

the example shows a selection of multiple contacts, numbers and emails

Synched / Unsynched contacts
onsync status icon meaning OnSync compares contact's number and emails but never compares their descriptions
  • a number/email is considered synchronized when it is present both on your mobile and your Mac
  • one contacts is considered synchronized if all its numbers/emails are present both on your mobile and your Mac
  • a contact is considered partially synchronized if only some of its numbers/emails are present both on your mobile and your Mac

The synchronization status icon shows if a contact/number/email is synchronized, partially synchronized or not synchronized.

At the end of every contact description there are two counters in parenthesis. The first counts numbers/emails of the contacts. The second counts how many of those numbers/emails are synchronized

OnSync never synchronizes contacts/numbers/emails that are already synchronized (in green status). The only exception is "Force Synching" described in the "Synching contacts" paragraph.

Synching contacts, Replacing numbers, Merging contacts and "drag & drop" functions
onsync synching Synching can be done in two directions:
  • from mobile to Mac
  • from Mac to mobile

It is possible to sync all the unsynched contacts/numbers/emails or just the current selection.

To initiate a sync you must first select one or more contacts/numbers/emails in order to activate the sync button.

You can synchronize contacts also by dragging and dropping from one list to the other. Using drag and drop it is possible to:

  • merge two contacts. Select a contact on one list and drop it over a contact on the other list
  • replace a number/email. Select a number/email on one list and drop it over a number/email on the other list.
  • add one number/email to one contact. Select a number/email on one list and drop it over a contact on the other list.
  • add one contact. Select a contact on one list and drop it between two contacts or before the first contact of the other list

The "Force Synching" button is used to synchronize one number present in more than one Mac contact to different contacts on the mobile. A typical case is when two persons work in the same office. They may have two contacts, but both use the same telephone number. With this button you'll be able to select a number present in more then one contact and synchronize it more than once. This function is available only when synching from your Mac to the mobile.

All synching commands are undoable and re-doable, but after a reload or delete command the undo function will be cleared.

The preference panels let you manage various synching configurations:

  • it is possible to configure how the description of new contacts written to the mobile will be generated (usually on mobiles, the contact's descriptions are shorter than on the Mac, so it it possible to decide the length, and the fields that will compose new mobile's description.
  • it is possible to add or remove prefixes and suffixes from numbers synched to the mobile or to the Mac.
  • you can control where fields will be populated on contacts created during synchronization from a mobile to the Mac. You can store the mobile's contact description in one or more fields on the newly generated contact on the Mac.
Deleting contacts/numbers/emails and other features
onsync delete, info and reload The delete selection button deletes the selected contacts/numbers/emails from the mobile device. This function is not undoable.

The info drawer button enables the visualization of details about the current selection. By selecting a synchronized number on the mobile list it is possible to see which contacts contain the number in the Mac list.

The reload button loads contacts in both lists from the Mac and the mobile. After pressing this button it won't be possible to undo previously synced operations.
