Nomi e numeri sullo schermo

Guida Apple a Controllo vocale, nomi, numeri e lingue.

King offers accessible controls with VoiceOver, Voice Control and Switch Control. You can play a card with one activation, read game information and choose a layout with cards in a list and large buttons.

Guide to King 1.0 · Updated 16 October 2026

Getting started

King is available in English and Italian for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. You play as South against three computer opponents.

From the King menu, open Your King → Table assistance → Accessible controls to show cards in a list with full names, large buttons and trick collection when you are ready. This layout turns on automatically with VoiceOver or very large text; you can also choose it manually.

To read the instructions again, choose How to play a card in the same group. You can also open How to play from the main menu.

One activation plays the card. With touch, tap once; on the classic table, you can also drag a card onto the playing area. With assistive technologies, activate the card directly: there is no need to select it and then tap the table. A card that is not allowed stays in your hand, and the game explains why, with no penalty for trying.

Playing with VoiceOver

Turn on VoiceOver in Device Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver, then open King. The table switches to Accessible controls automatically.

  1. Move between items using the usual VoiceOver gestures. Cards identify their rank, suit, whether they are trumps and whether they can be played.
  2. On your turn, activate Go to your cards to reach South’s hand. The control also provides a summary of the objective and the cards on the table.
  3. Move to an allowed card and use the standard VoiceOver double tap: the card is played immediately.
  4. At the end of a trick, you can hear all four cards, who wins, why, and the points. Activate Collect trick when you want to continue.

In Declarations, you can read your hand before choosing the special suit. In Domino, you can read the ends of the rows and use Pass your turn when you have no allowed move. Rules, scores and results are available through their respective controls.

Apple’s guide to turning on and practising VoiceOver.

Playing with Voice Control

Turn on Device Settings → Accessibility → Voice Control and complete the iOS setup. For these examples, use King in English and set Voice Control to English.

On your turn, say the full name of a card in your hand. For example:

  • Tap two of hearts — plays the two of hearts.
  • Tap ace of spades — plays the ace of spades.
  • Tap Menu or Tap Back — returns to the menu from the table.

The card is played immediately if it is in your hand, it is allowed and it is your turn. This works on the classic table and with Accessible controls, without dragging or confirming on the playing area.

Names and numbers on screen

You can say Show names, then Tap followed by the item’s name. You can also use Show numbers and say Tap followed by the displayed number. These numbers identify controls on the screen: they are not card ranks and can change.

If a number is not recognised or covers a card’s rank and suit, try the card’s full name instead. iOS manages overlays and speech recognition; King cannot choose the exact position of labels or tell whether names or numbers are showing.

For cards with more space between them, turn on Accessible controls manually. King uses iOS Voice Control, without a separate speech recogniser or an additional microphone access request. You do not need to create custom commands for each card.

Apple’s guide to Voice Control, names, numbers and languages.

Playing with Switch Control

Configure your switches and scanning method in Device Settings → Accessibility → Switch Control. Selection, scanning timing and activation follow your iOS or iPadOS settings.

  1. For a simpler list to scan, turn on Your King → Table assistance → Accessible controls.
  2. Use item scanning to reach a card in your hand. Select it and use the tap action provided by your configuration to play it immediately.
  3. Use the same method for menus, suit buttons, Collect trick and Pass your turn, when available.

You do not need to drag cards. Opponents’ face-down cards and cards already played provide game information; they are not controls for playing a card.

Apple’s guide to setting up and using Switch Control.

Readable text and information

King adapts its text to the size selected on your device. To increase it, open Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Larger Text. At very large text sizes, the game switches to the accessible layout automatically so that cards remain readable in a list.

Each card shows its rank and suit symbol; accessible descriptions include the full card name. Trumps also have a star and are identified in assistive descriptions. Rules and explanations help you understand allowed moves without relying on colour alone.

In Your King → Table assistance, you can choose Highlight allowed cards. Other cards remain available to activate so you can read why a play is not allowed.

Animation, sound and pace

  • Reduce Motion: King respects the device setting at Settings → Accessibility → Motion → Reduce Motion, reducing or removing card and dealing movements.
  • Game sounds: turn effects on or off in Your King. Sound effects are not needed to understand the rules or complete a match.
  • Faster play: turn it off to slow down opponents’ responses. With Accessible controls, a completed trick stays available to review until you activate Collect trick.
  • Resume a match: progress is saved automatically. From the menu, choose Resume match to continue.

King does not show ads while VoiceOver or the Accessible controls layout is active. If you use Voice Control or Switch Control alone, turn on Accessible controls manually to get this behaviour as well.

Languages and configuration

The interface, rules, card names and control labels are available in English and Italian. King follows the language selected for the app in your device settings.

The voice examples on this page are in English; the Italian version includes commands such as “Tocca due di cuori”. To use these examples, select the same language for King and Voice Control. Voice language availability and recognition depend on iOS or iPadOS.

Some system command names and paths in Settings may vary with your operating system version.
